1 Corinthians 10:23-24...The Good of Others...

“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive. No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.

Many times each week we hear of people’s rights to do something or to have something. Most often it is a trivial thing or a means to gather more than others or a means to try and level the field in some area of concern. God has given man the authority to do anything, however not everything is beneficial. So many times we are struggling with our right to do something that is not constructive to others. The question we should ask is will it benefit others, will it be uplifting and constructive to the greater good. This is a departure from the selfish attitude that is dominant in our sinful man. Our nature is to seek what is good for us and what makes us happy. The only way to overcome this selfish attitude and to filter our motives is through Christ Jesus. We must look to His example of how to lift up others and how to love without conditions being placed on that love. Pause to think how you express Christ love each day and be thankful that His love lives within your heart…
