PTSD Recovery And Follow Up

This Is Why We Care

At Wilderness Scout Ministries, we hold great admiration and respect for our First Responders. It takes a special kind of courage to dedicate oneself to such heroic work. Our founder, Andy Molatch, spent 30 years as a police officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, so he has personally experienced the challenges our First Responders face. The fact that his sons were Navy Seals only deepens his appreciation for the sacrifices made by our military veterans. We are grateful for the sacrifices made by all those who serve our communities and our country.

PTSD Manifests Itself In Many Destructive Ways

Sadly, PTSD manifests itself in many destructive ways – most dramatically in suicide. According to the latest statistics, 16.8 veterans are dying by suicide every day. More of our young men and women in military service have died from suicide than at the hands of the enemy in the war on terror.

We understand that many men struggling with PTSD are drawn to our ministry. We consider it an honor to provide a safe and supportive space for individuals who we believe have been brought to us by God. Our goal is to offer love, grace, and resources to assist them on their journey toward healing and peace.

Because of this, we were moved to reach out to the people of REBOOT Combat Recovery, who created a biblical-based combat recovery course to help those suffering from PTSD and lead a course locally. This free 12-week course has already made a huge impact on the local military community.

In our very first course, we had veterans representing 5 different combat theaters, spanning 50 years. The course content has been a great help to veterans and their spouses in addressing past traumas that may have gone unnoticed since returning home from conflict. It has been instrumental in nurturing emotional healing for both the veterans and their loved ones, while also addressing any secondary trauma that may have occurred. The teachings of Jesus have been a powerful tool in promoting such healing.

What About Our First Responders?

However, While our military veterans are in the national spotlight, our EMTs, Police, and Fire Fighters can suffer trauma each time they go to work. More often than not, the resulting trauma is held inside and over time, without an outlet, can lead to debilitating PTSD.

For this reason, many members of our national first responder communities expressed the need for such a course. We approached Reboot about using their Reboot Combat training course materials to create a new training course for first-line responders. Reboot Recovery invited us to host one of the 13 pilot courses of Firstline Recovery in the nation.

Our ministry team is working with various Fire Departments in N.C. to assist them in setting up courses in their areas.

Let Me Introduce You To The Reboot First Responders

The Reboot program is here for you, and we're happy to welcome everyone. It's specifically designed for first responders, like police officers, firefighters, and paramedics, and is grounded in Christian beliefs. We believe that what sets our course apart is that it provides effective and practical techniques for trauma recovery, regardless of your personal beliefs. We understand that everyone has different experiences and backgrounds, and we're here to support you in your healing journey.

It is a 12-week program, designed to provide you with the necessary skills to cope with the difficulties you're facing and support your healing process. You'll work through our trauma healing curriculum with the guidance of a local leader, who will facilitate conversations and participation among all participants. We understand that privacy is crucial, which is why we prioritize it and create a non-judgmental environment for everyone involved.

You will be led by some exceptional individuals, who have been through trauma themselves. This gives them a unique perspective on the challenges families face. They are empathetic and willing to share their personal experiences to help you on your journey toward healing and recovery. Their insights are valuable, and they are committed to helping you overcome your trauma.

We Will Stand With You

We stand ready to work with any community of veterans and first responders in our larger Carolinas area to break the cycle of destruction and death PTSD causes in our heroes.

Let us support you in your journey toward healing and recovery.

We know that life can be challenging for you and your family, and we want to help by inviting you to join us. Our goal is to enhance communication and strengthen relationships

After the recovery and healing of the faith-based PTSD Recovery courses, each graduate exits with different needs. We go alongside each one and offer all the other services our ministry is known for. Some may need one on one mentoring which we provide as an extension of the Men of God ministry. Our Saturday bible study may be the place where they go for spiritual growth and guidance. They may need our Transition ministry to give them a safe place to recover and transition into the “normal” world. Military work skills may need to be augmented and built upon in our Jobs program. Each individual has their own unique needs, and we are here to stand with them.

Cabin Boys Bible Study

40EAEBFE-8F87-411D-85B5-A9DADE0B29E9.JPG

From the very beginning we have met every Saturday at 8:00 to study God’s word and encourage one another. This is a come as you are, rustic, no frills, time of Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”. No judgment – we have all messed up our lives as well as many of those lives around us…. yet, we have found that God still loves us deeply and He is the answer to the grace we need for our past and the strength we need for our future. This Band of Brothers has seen God break the bonds of addiction, heal marriages, set men free who were captive to pornography, bring many through the valley of cancer. All this and more, while at the same time equipping and empowering these same broken men to take Jesus into their homes, workplace and communities. Men, unable or unwilling to go to church or other services are coming to Cabin Boys seeking answers – some with drug and substance addictions. We have been blessed to be part of seeing God heal these young men and get the help they, and their family, desperately need. Young men who have gone through biblical-based rehab and allowed God to transform their lives and their families’ lives. This Cabin Boys Saturday Bible study has been the incubator the Holy Spirit has used to launch all of the Wilderness Scout Ministries. As men hear from God’s word they understand their role in His Kingdom’s work and obey God’s command for us to serve and love one another. All men between the ages of 15 and 115 are welcome each and every Saturday at 8:00am. For directions send us an email at info@wildernessscoutministries.com.

Mentoring

Paul to Timothy style mentoring is provided to give one on one assistance in the daily Christian walk. As Paul discipled and mentored Timothy, we are placing spiritually mature men of God alongside men who are not as far along on their walk with God.  The “Paul” mentor grows as he learns to teach and hold his “Timothy” accountable. He must tailor his mentoring to the specific needs of his “Timothy”. The “Timothy” mentee sees the example of daily walking the Christian life from his “Paul”. He learns good Bible study habits and has someone to go to for difficult questions he may encounter in life.

Biblical Counseling

Our mission is to offer compassion and Biblical wisdom, share Christ with unbelievers and help believers to apply Biblical wisdom to the circumstances of their life. God has brought many men and women with troubled marriages and life challenges to the ministry. Wilderness Scout Ministries has a professional counseling service provided free of charge. Marriages are being saved, children are being reconciled with their parents, and families are being reunited in this biblical based counseling. All through the healing power of God. This ministry is led by a volunteer who has a Masters degree in Biblical Counseling with a Doctorate in Practical Theology and serves with the Billy Graham Crisis Response team.
