Luke 1:26-32...The Angel Visits...

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.

The long anticipated announcement of the Messiah was delivered to Mary. Gabriel, the angel of God, appeared to Mary to make this proclamation in person. The Son of the Most High would be born to a virgin and His name would be called Jesus. This is what we celebrate at Christmas, the birth of Christ. Among all of the celebrations that we have throughout the year, this one remains the greatest. This is the time of year that we get to celebrate our Lord and Savior who came to earth to offer forgiveness and salvation to each of us. We celebrate the awesome power of God over all creation to orchestrate these events for our benefit. We praise His name for the grace and mercy that was delivered through the birth of Jesus. Although we praise His name throughout the year, this is a special time of reflecting on the birth of Jesus and the miracle of the virgin birth. Thank you God for your gift, freely given to each of us through your Son Jesus!

Blessings,
