Accept The Good News
“And Zechariah said to the angel, 'How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.'And the angel answered him, 'I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.’”
Zechariah was unsure of the news that the angel had just imparted to him and questioned how it would be possible for he and his wife to have a child since they were quite advanced in years. Instead of accepting the miracle as presented the doubt of its authenticity was in question and for this Zechariah paid a price, he was unable to speak until his son, John the Baptist, was born. When God speaks to us, we should listen. Moreover we should be willing to accept good and righteous news without question and with praise on our lips.
