Luke 2:15-20...Be Ready...
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
The angels had given the shepherds great news about the birth of Christ Jesus and now they were ready to go and see this miracle for themselves. If you notice, they did not sit around and plan the trip or wait until it was convenient. Instead they hurried off to find Joseph and Mary and to see the Jesus. Many times we miss the blessing because we do not respond in a timely fashion. Our hearts, and our ears, should be listening for opportunities to serve God each and every day. There are many surrounding us that need a kind word, a gentle hug, a reassuring voice or maybe just a smile. God’s love provides us so many ways to share. This is what the shepherds did upon seeing the Christ Child. They went away praising and glorifying God. They told everyone they met of the promise that had been fulfilled. So should we…
