Ruth 1:16-17...Loyalty and Promise...
But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.”
You may be familiar with this text as it is often used in the context of a marriage ceremony. It is Ruth’s commitment to Naomi that she will be faithful to her mother-in-law, reside and care for her since they both were widows. This deep devotion and loyalty is rarely seen today. For the most part everyone seems to be looking for the next best thing, unwilling to understand what blessings God has provided them. Many have become unhappy simply because of selfish desires or trivial expectations. The providence of God is all that we really need and more than we should hope to receive. Once we understand that our lives matter to God and that we are able to have a personal relationship with Jesus we are able to fulfill our purpose in life. God has a plan! Praise His Holy Name…
Blessings,
