Isaiah 9:6...A Son Is Given...

For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given,
    and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The simple words of the prophet Isaiah foretold the birth of Jesus. This next week we celebrate His birth. We gather as families and enjoy the warm embrace of love and fellowship. We enjoy good food, laughter and the joy of the season. During this Christmas we should take time to  lift our praise for the reason we celebrate. A child is born! Jesus, Immanuel, God with Us! This is our joy. God sent His only Son to endure the hardships of mankind and to become the living sacrifice for our sins. Thank you Jesus for the opportunity to celebrate your love and your compassion for each of us. Praise be to the Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace!
