John 6:12-13…More Than Enough...
When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
Most of us are aware of the story when Jesus fed the five thousand with just five small loaves bread and two fish. Undoubtably this was a miracle and it stands as a physical reminder of the power of Christ to meet our needs. Beyond the face value of feeding all of these people from such a small supply is the fact that after everyone was full the leftovers were gathered and they were so much more than what was offered in the beginning. This miracle not only shows the power of God to meet our needs but His ability to go beyond our needs with an overabundant supply that will last for the future. We often limit our request to God to cover our immediate situation rather than to ask for the long term, however God sees beyond our wants and needs and beyond our short-sightedness. He cares for us. He is our heavenly Father and He is watchful over His children. Thank You Lord for your Abundant Supply!!
