1 Corinthian 3:5-7...Only God May Grow the Seed...
What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
We live in a society that is full of people that believe they are the reason the world operates as it does. You do not have to look far to see those that promote that they can change the climate, solve the hunger crisis or create world peace. It is an arrogant position to believe that we, as mere mortals, have the ability to do anything without the express will of God. Once we fall into that trap it is hard to get out. God has a divine plan for everything, a purpose and a reason for everything, everywhere, all the time. If we are able to merely taste of that concept we begin to understand that while we may plant the seed and yes we may even water it, but it is God, and God alone, that makes the seed grow. For everything that we seemingly accomplish in our lives we need to be sure and give God glory because it it by His hand that we are blessed and by His grace that we are saved.
