New Program for Veterans with Disabilities
Wilderness Scout Ministries is announcing a new program to help veterans navigate the complexities of successfully applying for disability benefits. Frank Charlonis is a retired Colonel with 30 years of service in the United States Marine Corp. Colonel Charlonis is himself a disabled veteran and has established many contacts in the Bureau of Veterans Affairs. “Most veterans have heard the horror stories of trying to obtain disability benefits and they end up screening themselves out of the program,” says Charlonis. “Others take the initial disability rating without question when they really should receive a higher rating.” Charlonis says that new rules make it easier to get a claim upgraded. “Some veterans are hesitant to admit to being disabled,” says Charlonis. “At this stage, it is not about the veteran, it is about their family, their spouse, and their children. There are lots of benefits available from educational opportunities to vocational rehab.” If you need help obtaining or upgrading your VA benefits, complete the form located here and someone from Wilderness Scout Ministries will get back to you.
