1 Corinthians 13:1-3...Love Above All Else...

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames but have not love, I gain nothing.”

Paul introduced these verses by saying, “I will now show you the most excellent way.” Love is by far the most excellent way. It is God’s love for us that sustains us. It is His love for us that brought Jesus into this world as a sacrifice for our sins. Our gift from God is the love that He gives, and the love that He instills within us to share with others. Imagine the world today if love were to replace the hatred we see displayed all around us. Clearly love is the most excellent way. We have been intrusted with the love of God to share with the world, to encourage one another, to lift up our brothers, to reach out when others are hurting and to comfort those that are in need. We, as Christians, are charged with spreading the love of Christ.
