James 1:19-21...Listen and Keep Listening...

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Listen closely to the conversations of today and you will find just how quickly people become angry at the smallest of things. It is like a tinderbox or lighter fluid that needs just a spark and suddenly there is an explosion. So many people seem perched on the edge of blowing up that often a conversation seems futile. We should however be ready to listen. Not preparing a response or thinking of the next subject to talk about but really listening and hearing what is being said. By doing so we are showing interest and compassion and giving of our time to help someone who just needs to talk through the experiences of the day. Do not be drawn into the fire of slander or anger as they will always end up burning up relationships and cause more damage than you might imagine. Share the love and understanding that Christ has given to you and share the love of God with everyone you meet.

Blessings,

Alan B Conner
