John 20:19-20…Call On The Name Of Jesus...
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Can you imagine the dilemma that the disciples faced. Their savior had been wrongfully accused, beaten and crucified right before their eyes. They were gathered together behind locked doors, in fear of the authorities and most likely in fear for their own lives. Fear is one of satan’s most powerful tools and here he wields it against the closest followers of Christ. In their darkest hour, without any notice, Jesus appears. Suddenly He was with them. He did not knock on the door but He just appeared. How delighted the disciples were to see Him again! Their fears were relieved and Jesus comfort and peace washed over them. When fear sneaks into our lives it is good to remember this story and how Jesus brings immediate comfort and peace. His presence is vital to our existence and we must be keenly aware that He lives in our hearts and is always right here with us. Fear is cast aside when we call on the name of Jesus. Satan is rebuked when we call on Jesus. Let’s use the power of prayer and the name of Jesus at every opportunity to strike a blow to the devils schemes. Stand up for Jesus because He is always on your side and in your heart…
