Exodus 13:21-22...Follow His Lead...

By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

The children of Israel were being led throughout the desert by God in the form of a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire. These symbols were always out in front of the people, clearly seen and a promise to the Israelites that God was in control and He would guide them on their journey. When we put God first, out in front, in His rightful place, we will find it easier to follow Him. It is when we get out in front of God and have to look back or around to see which direction to go that we falter. Furthermore, we have the promise of God that He will never leave us of forsake us. Just as He remained in front of the Israelites and never left, the same holds true today. Put God first and find the peace that comes with knowing where to look for Him.
