Mark 6:47-50..."Don't Be Afraid"...
Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified.Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
Once again we find the disciples in a predicament that causes them fear. The waves were against them and now they thought they had seen a ghost walking on water about the boat. Truthfully, most anyone would be afraid at this point. But once again Jesus reassures them by saying “Don’t be afraid.” It is a consistent message and one that we as Christians should remind ourselves of daily. Our faith will overcome fear through Christ Jesus and we will conquer the schemes of satan. Fear is a powerful tool and we must be careful not to let it rule our lives. While we must be cautious of things that we know to cause harm we must also be prudent in knowing that our faith is strong and that our King is still on the throne. Pray each day for God to strengthen you, in body, mind and spirit so that your faith will be strong.
