Matthew 18:1-5...Humbleness is Best...

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Most of the world today is focused on how to become number one, the top dog, the guy in charge. This philosophy is totally flawed. When the target of your intentions becomes self serving, everyone around you suffers. The disciples were trying to figure out who was going to be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven when their attention should have been in humbling themselves before God and serving others. We too can be quickly swept away by ego, attention or fame and fall from the most favored position of a humble child. Our greatest accomplishments will come in the form of serving others, loving those who seem unlovable, caring for other’s needs and sharing the love of Christ through the gospel message lived out through our daily life. Be careful and observant of what position you are taking everyday.
