Matthew 13:18-21...Grow Your Roots...
“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
The joy of hearing God’s Word is special. Yet if we are not invested and rooted in faith and belief we quickly fall away when persecution or trials appear. And they will come. Life is full of twist and turns and all too often trials present themselves and usually when we least expect them. We should be prepared for them, making certain that our faith is strong and rooted in Christ Jesus. That our foundation is in the promises of God and that our salvation is secured through our profession of faith. We cannot simply hear God’s Word and not act upon what we hear. It must penetrate our heart and soul. It must be on display in our words and in our actions and in everything that we set forth to accomplish. We then are rooted and growing in His love and by His hand.
