James 1:19-21... Stop and Listen...
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
For nearly all of my life I have heard the expression “God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason” and I am certain that you have heard this as well. Our modern day society is much more interested in speaking, even screaming, their opinions rather than listening, hearing and giving consideration to what is being said by others. Listening provides a window into the heart and mind. It provides an opportunity to discern the heart and spirit of others. We are not compelled to believe everything we hear however we are called to listen, to hear and to weed out the untruths, the moral filth and to fellowship with the truth found in God’s Word. Listen and filter, provide quiet answers that are filled with the truth you have been given. You are a display of God’s remarkable love and compassion.
Blessings,
