Philippians 4:8-9...Ponder on the Good Things...
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."
We spend a great deal of time being anxious about the worst possible outcome in situations that face us. We dread and despair over the bad things we hear in the news and worry about which direction we should take next. This is not what God intended for us. We have to immerse ourselves in the fact that He is in control, He has the direction in mind for us to take and He holds the keys to life and death. Following Paul’s instructions to us, as Christians, we are to think about the positive things in life, the great attributes of those around us and we should be filled with praise to God for all that He provides in those areas. Pondering on the good virtues we see in the lives around us, emulating the same and praising God brings us peace, a peace that is unexplained, comforting and soothing. Setting your mind to things that are good eliminates time to worry about the bad.
