Matthew 7:9-12...Ask, Seek, Knock...

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!  So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."

As parents we know that we stand at the ready to grant the request of our children as long as we are comfortable that the request will cause no harm or lead them astray. That readiness and eagerness to give good gifts to our children pales in comparison to the good gifts that our Heavenly Father wishes to bestow upon us. We are evil by nature and yet we know how to give, how much more then should we expect that God is willing to bestow upon His children as we ask. Ask, Seek, Knock, and with everything that we do we should put forth the effort to exemplify the “Golden Rule” and serve others above ourselves. God, you are a good, good Father!
