Colossians 3:12-14....Try these on....
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
Paul is very specific in his instruction to the Christian community. He gives us the line-up of virtues that we should apply to our lives every day. Gentleness, kindness and forgiveness. These are much easier to apply when we remember how they were expressed to us through the sacrifice of Christ. And yet having the ability to apply all of these virtues to our lives is not enough. We still need the one ingredient that pulls them all together. That is LOVE. Pauls words are “spot-on” when he says that love binds them all together in PERFECT unity. Not sort-of or almost, but perfect. You have to step a bit outside of what others consider normal to see the world through the loving eyes of Christ. Find the good in everything and promote that which is uplifting and encouraging. Share God’s love with everyone.
