1 Samuel 16:7...Easy to get Wrong...

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Everyday we pass judgement on people, mostly without even realizing that we do so or that we are engaging in the process. We catch a glimpse  of their appearance and we form an opinion of them without ever a word having been spoken, we hear a story about someone and we add our opinion in the form of judgment as well.  Samuel was doing the same thing, yet he was searching for the new king that the Lord had promised, a noble cause indeed. God warned Samuel that appearances are not what God uses to judge people. He is interested in their heart. God wants a heart that belongs to Him. Take a moment to get to know those you come in contact with, you might be very surprised to find out how beautiful and wonderfully God works in their heart. Go beyond the superficial and skin deep judgments that are easily made and invest in looking into what emanates from within. It is always worth the journey.
