John 3:29-30...Wait For It...
“The friend who attend the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine and is now complete. He must become greater, I must become less.”
The world today is not patient. Everything is “on demand” or get it now. We have become a society of people who are unwilling to wait or to pause for even a second. Take a breath! Anticipation of what is yet to come can be very rewarding. If the expectation and excitement are given a moment to grow and to flourish, satisfaction will become great. As Christians we are anticipating the return of Christ and with that anticipation we have blessed assurance of our eternity. Waiting and watching for His return is our model and with this lesson we can understand the need for patience and the joy of fulfillment. As we wait we should also model the example of promoting Jesus and not ourselves. As an exercise to that end, talk about Christ more than yourself, post about God’s greatness more than your accomplishments, brag about the joy and peace that only God affords more than the possessions you obtain. Let this become your daily exercise and you will find that fulfillment that only God can deliver…
