1 Peter 3:8-9...Our Calling...
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another, be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called, so that you may inherit a blessing.
Look all around you. In today’s world it is easy to find contempt, slander and downright ugliness happening everywhere. It seems almost to be competitive to see how many can capture pure hate on a video or spew their venom on as many as possible at one time through hateful words. Satan loves all of this personal attention and loves the discourse and confusion, therefore we must adhere to our faith and trust the love of God to instill in each of us the harmony mentioned here in Peter. We were created to live together, to help each other out and to lift each other up as we travel through life. Being compassionate and humble are the traits that we should practice and embrace, so much so that we learn to repay evil and insults with blessings. This is our calling, this is our purpose, this is the love of Christ Jesus flowing outwardly from our hearts to others. This calling also contains a promise of inheritance in the form of blessings. A gift from God. If we want to get in on the blessings of God all we need to do is follow His example and understand his instructions given to us through the scriptures.
Blessings,
