Matthew 9:14-15...Relationship not Religion...
Then John’s disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?” Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.
Look around you today and you will find many people, supposing they are experts, telling you what to do and what not to do. This ranges from finances to health to food and even to religion. Not so surprising, in Jesus time there were so called experts that seemed to know everything about religion and how it was to be performed. These Pharisees did not like that the disciples were not following their predetermined rights and rituals but rather were spending their time with Jesus, learning and understanding about His Father’s love. Our experience with Christ is not about religion but about relationship. It is not about performance or ritual but about conversation, prayer, praise, honor and glory that bring joy to our hearts and mind. With our eyes on Jesus and our hearts mindful of His instruction we experience His love as it is lavished upon us.
