Luke 9:46-48...Last Becomes First...

"An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. Then he said to them, 'Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.’”

No doubt that today’s social atmosphere offers us a broad spectrum on how worldly people view themselves. So many are clamoring to get face-time on the networks or quotes in the press to lift themselves up and promote their agendas with the hope of elevating themselves to a yet higher position. This is true even outside of the political realm. Everyone seems to be in the self promotion business. This is completely contrary to what the gospel teaches us. Our work is to welcome the children, the lost, the meek, the suffering, tending to needs of others before ourselves and sharing the love of Christ with everyone. Ours is a position of a servant to our God and lifting up those around us and promoting others before ourselves.
