John 21:20-22…My Relationship...

Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”)  When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”

Our salvation is a gift from God and it is also a very deep and personal relationship that we experience. Peter was given a directive from Jesus about the start of the church and about feeding the new Christians within that congregation when he questioned Jesus about John and what would be his role. Jesus answered with the perfect response letting Peter know where his focus should be directed. It is our own personal relationship that matters and it is that relationship that we must cultivate and grow. Yes we are to share the gospel and to tell others about our experiences, however, we cannot afford to waste time with petty jealousies and comparisons of our callings. God wants our attention focused on what He has in store for us, the direction and the path He has laid out before us. We need to spend our time wisely listening to God, hearing His voice and following His direction. Be still and hear His voice…
