John 21:4-7...Hear His Voice...
Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” “No,” they answered. He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.
Again Jesus appears to His disciples after His resurrection. This time He instructs them where to cast their nets to catch fish, even though they had been fishing all night and had nothing to show for their effort. Following His direction they could not even manage to pull in the nets because they were so full of fish. Then they realized who was giving them instruction and rushed to meet Him on the shore. Peter even jumped into the water, leaving his catch behind, because he wanted to get to Jesus quickly. We should be as quick to respond to the voice of the Lord. Instead we often build walls or create circumstances that we use as excuses or reasons for our delayed response. We should be ready to hear His instruction and act, even in the smallest capacity, whenever He speaks. Lord help me today to hear your voice and listen to your instruction.
