Exodus 20:17...Content with Being Unique...
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
This commandment directly conflicts with the attitude found throughout our culture of today. I would suppose that statement has been truce for many centuries. If we are not careful we may covet our neighbors house or any of his possessions, wealth or status in the community. We may find ourselves falling into the trap of mimicking someone else’s life and not realizing who God made us to become..We are each unique and made to be so by God for His purpose. That being said, we need to hold fast to what we believe, be rooted in our faith and not easily swayed by popular opinion or trendy fads. If we find ourselves spending a great deal of time seeking what others have, more than the time we spend with God, we need to recognize the imbalance. Embrace how special you are to God and what He has provided for you to carry out His plan in your life.
