Luke 1:38-45...Excited to Be In The Presence of the Lord...
At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
Mary believed what the angel of the Lord had told her. Now she had traveled to visit her relative Elizabeth who was also pregnant. As soon as Elizabeth greeted Mary the child within her leapt for joy. What a great tribute to the glory of the Lord that we should leap for joy when we are in His presence. Elizabeth was overcome with respect and awe for Mary and for the child that Mary carried. She understood the magnificence of the occasion and of the great and mighty power of God. She honored Mary as well for believing in God’s word and for her spirit to be the humble servant of God. We should be willing to adopt that very same spirit as Mary. To be willing to be used of God to carry out His divine purpose in our lives. This starts with the study of His Word and with quiet communion through prayer. Prepare your heart and mind for His calling.
