Matthew 5:13...Remain Steadfast...

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

Salt has been mentioned in the Bible since the time of Adam. It has been used to cure meat, flavor food, season many things and even as currency in earlier times. (Hence the meaning of a man being worth his salt.) Now Jesus explains to us that through Him and the Father we are the salt of the earth. Without Christ we lose our ability to season those around us with love and mercy. If we allow the battles of everyday life to remove the saltiness from our lives we will become jaded and our witness for Jesus will loose its power. We should be ever mindful of how things around us may affect our witness and strive to keep from loosing the salt within us.
