Acts 8:18:21...Wealthy Beyond Measure...
When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God.
We live in an age where money seems to drive everything. You can’t seem to turn a corner without hearing about the divide between wealthy and poor or the comparison of one’s accounts. It seems that so many place the value of their existence in the measure of their wealth and think that this will bring them comfort and peace. Simon was blinded by the same veil. Satan had caused him to rely on his old ways of sorcery and magic and he felt as though he could purchase the anointing off the Holy Spirit whenever he wanted. I fear there are many today that have that same expectation and even some forms of religion exist today that promote money as the way to heaven. But listen carefully to Peter and the correction that he gave. Money will not buy you the gift of God. There is but one way to heaven and to peace with God and that is through Christ Jesus. Do not be deceived or misled, this is the only way. Pray that God will continue to give you the true meaning of wealth…
