Luke 1:59-63...Amaze Others...

"And on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child. And they would have called him Zechariah after his father, but his mother answered, 'No; he shall be called John.' And they said to her, 'None of your relatives is called by this name.' And they made signs to his father, inquiring what he wanted him to be called. And he asked for a writing tablet and wrote, 'His name is John.' And they all wondered.’”

Zechariah and Elizabeth were on the same page concerning their son and what had been revealed to them about his role and ministry in life. They understood and simply trusted what the angel had said and now it was time to name their son. Everyone around them thought that the ordinary course of action was best and the baby would be named after the family but instead he was named John. While family and friends around them wondered about the reason for this name, Zechariah and Elizabeth followed God and His direction. The world today is watching us, the Christian life, and wondering why we believe and why we praise and honor God. They are still confused and in need of understanding. We simply must share with everyone what Christ means us, to impart the word of God to a lost and misguided world.
