What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?

The perspective that the wold gives pertaining to a man’s worth is almost always directly related to his net worth, his wealth or just simply how much money or how many possessions has he accumulated. We hear about it all the time, in advertisements and in the media. There are people out there ready to help us manage our wealth and show us how to gain more. Sure, it would be nice to not worry about having enough money at the end of the month. Truth is that we spend too much time concerned with the things that matter the least. I am reminded of the old style of scales that balance a weight against that which is being measured. If we apply that to our lives we should always aspire to have the scales tip in the direction that pertains to our spiritual life rather than our physical possessions. Spending time seeking after God and His will will help you move the scales in the right direction.
