Cabin Boys Bible Study
From the very beginning we have met every Saturday at 8:00 to study God’s word and encourage one another. This is a come as you are, rustic, no frills, time of Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”. No judgment – we have all messed up our lives as well as many of those lives around us…. yet, we have found that God still loves us deeply and He is the answer to the Grace we need for our past and the strength we need for our today, and the reason for our tomorrows. This Band of Brothers has seen God break the bonds of addiction, heal marriages, set men who were captive to pornography free, bring many through the valley of cancer, all this and more while at the same time equipping and empowering these same broken men to take Jesus into their homes, workplace and communities. Men, unable or unwilling to go through churches or other services are coming to Cabin Boys seeking answers – some with drug and substance addictions. We have been blessed to be part of seeing God heal these young men and get the help they, and their family desperately need. Young men who have gone through biblically based rehab and allowed God to transform their lives and their families’ lives. This Cabin Boys Saturday bible study has been the incubator the Holy Spirit has used to launch all of the Wilderness Scout Ministries. As men hear from God’s word they understand their role in His Kingdom’s work and set about obeying God’s instructions for us to serve and love one another. All men between the ages of 15 and 115 are welcome each and every Saturday at 8:00am. For directions send us an email at info@wildernessscoutministries.com.
Community Services
The ministry is growing and the life change which is occurring in the men who come is huge. As men seek to serve we have reached out to many local churches/ministries and have oftentimes, become the hands and feet of these organizations. We provide men with needed construction skills to do projects locally to show God’s love – building wheelchair ramps, repairing homes for those too old and/or lacking the resources to do this themselves. We do this while including those in the community giving us an opportunity to show them what a Man of God looks like “out in the wild”.
Mentoring
Paul to Timothy style mentoring is provided to give one on one assistance in the daily Christian Walk. As Paul disciple and mentored Timothy we are placing spiritually mature Men of God alongside men who as not as far along on their walk with God. The “Paul” mentor grows as he learns to teach and hold his “Timothy” accountable. He must tailor his mentoring to the specific needs of his “Timothy”. The “Timothy” mentee see the example of daily walking the Christian Life from his “Paul”. He learns good bible study habits and has someone to go to for difficult questions his walk may turn up.
Biblical Counseling
Our mission is to offer compassion and Biblical wisdom, share Christ with unbelievers and help believers to apply Biblical wisdom to the circumstances of their life. God has brought many men and women with troubled marriages and life challenges to the ministry. Wilderness Scout Ministries has a professional counseling service provided free of charge. Marriages are being saved, children are being reconciled with their parents, and families are being reunited in this biblical based counseling. All through the healing power of God. For more information click here. This ministry is led by a volunteer who has a Masters in Biblical Counseling with a Doctorate in Practical Theology and serves with the Billy Graham Crisis Response team.
Wilderness Program
Our Founder Andy Molatch found the wilderness of the Appalachian Trail to be a good place to connect with our Heavenly Father. Like Jesus, he retreated into the Wilderness to pray and seek a closer walk with God. All of our various ministries benefit from the Wilderness. Being a Man of God requires closeness with the Father. Trips to the Wilderness teach men how to get away from the distractions of this world and how to use the wilderness to pray and draw closer to God. First Responders suffering from PTSD can find the space in the wilderness to gain time to heal and relate to one another. Our veterans who are transitioning back from deployments to “normal life” can find that the wilderness gives them time and a safe place to begin to switch from the hyper awareness of combat to “normal” life back home. Because so many of the men with Wilderness Scout Ministries get refreshed by spending time in the wilderness, we will be reaching out to some of the local city ministries to provide a place where kids can come and experience nature for a weekend.
